Hey guys! It's been a long time since I last blogged and I apologize for the sudden hiatus. School has been a nightmare. I'm currently in the second semester of my final diploma year and it has been hectic since semester one. The projects are crazy. I also had to intern during my holidays and now, I'm back for semester two without a decent break. Alright, my rant shall stop here as it'll never end if I do go on.
Most importantly, I want all of my readers to know that I've not abandoned my blog. I miss blogging dearly and am always thinking about coming up with good content. I might not be able to update frequently but will be back for sure! So, I hope you guys would stick around too!
I would also like to say that you guys can still feel free to contact me via my email at vns_lim936@hotmail.com or if you just want to say hi, feel free to tweet me @Perfashionism . I'm also on instagram @Perfashionism! I'll try to put up a widget of my instagram account soon. So, that aside, let's hop right in to a long overdue post.
So, I guess for those who follow my blog, you would've known that I travelled to Korea last year in July for a week. Best experience I've ever had and I totally missed it there! I went with Mummy Deary and we decided to go without a tour guide. Huge responsibilities on my shoulders as my mum was solely counting on whatever Korean skills I had. I was majorly stressed out and to be honest, I even felt nervous before and after I got there. I'm just such a worrywart. What if my flight hasn't been booked? What if my hotel reservations weren't confirmed? What if I can't communicate? What if I get lost? What if I can't even find my way to the hotel I'll be staying at? This were just a fraction of what's going on in my head on Day0 and Day1.
Tip for all those out there who are planning to do the same as what I did, RESEARCH! That's what you gotta do weeks before you go on your trip. I did a lot of research and still found myself staying up late at night in the hotel while my mum sleeps, tapping into the hotel's wifi trying to plan out my routes for the next day. I guess it would've been less stressful if I was traveling alone as I didn't mind getting lost. However, since my mum was with me, can't exactly tire her out by taking her on the wrong route and bring her to ridiculous places. In the end, it all turned out fine, I didn't get lost and I had a really great time there!
So here goes, my trip to Korea, Seoul~
Please excuse the fact that Mummy Deary and me have absolutely no makeup on. Nothing says uncomfortable more than wearing a face full of makeup on a plane.
Oh! Skin tip for plane rides, bring along a moisturizer if possible. Of course, please do check what's allowed on the plane before including it to your carry on. I wasn't too sure, hence did not have any on me and boy do I regret it. The air was really dry on the plane and my skin was absolutely drained of all moisture when I got off. Not fun! All I had was chapstick and I reapplied countless of times to stop my lips from cracking.
Woke up before everyone else did just to catch this.
Bibimbap on the plane! ^^
So after we got off the plane, pass through the security and stuff. Headed for the toilet straight away to freshen up. Next, I went to the convenient store available in the airport and got myself a Tmoney card which works just like the EZ-link card we use in Singapore. For those who don't live in Singapore, it's basically a card that you use to pay to get on public transport. We then went to the information counter to ask how else we could get to our hotel besides taking the train as I researched and found out that there's a shuttle bus that goes right to my hotel. Found out, got that settled and our trip begins~
Din Tai Fung in Korea?!? Wow was not expecting that :p
The bus journey took around an hour to an hour and a half. The bus didn't take us to the hotel's door steps but it wasn't too far off either. Three minute walk tops, or maybe five with our heavy luggage. :p We stayed at the Prince Hotel which was in a prime location. Myeongdong was literally just across my hotel. With that, you can probably guess where I hung out most when I was in Korea. Anyway, back to the hotel, it was much better than what I expected. Clean, spacious and really comfortable.
Took a shower immediately! Deep cleanse, exfoliate and moisturized! I really hate plane rides, it totally took a toll on my skin as well on my energy level. Mum and I thought it would be a better idea if we rode on an overnight flight so as to not waste time and start exploring when we reach. Well that was a bad idea! Didn't manage to catch any decent sleep on the plane at all. After my shower, I literally just put on a face mask, snuggled under the covers and knocked myself out for a few hours. Checked in at 10am and woke up at around 3pm :p So much for exploring when we reach.
Got ready and head out to our first stop, Myeongdong!
The crowd at around 4pm on a Tuesday in Myeongdong.
Not ashamed to say I'm a huge Kpop fan!
Oh, my love~ XD
Yup, gone into the famous Everysing which is a shop that has merchandize to all of the artiste in SM Entertainment. There's also really cute and quirky photobooths, noraebangs (Karaoke) that you can use as well. I also heard that every Saturday they hold auditions here? Not too sure if that's still the case now, but definitely worth checking out if you're a kpop fanatic. Didn't get myself anything in the end. Gotta save on the cash!
We hungry! Dinner at...
Mummy Deary looking so fine while waiting for our food to come XD
To be honest, not the best meal I've had in Korea but still good! I've gotta say, the dokbokki available in Singapore could not compare to the ones in Korea. It's really different! Must have in Korea!
The stage right outside Migliore and at the entrance of the streets of Myeongdong. Wonder why I didn't notice it when I first walked in, perhaps too drawn towards all the cosmetic shops. Yup, did go a little crazy on the makeup department even though it's just the first day.
Did a quick look around in Migliore before heading back to our hotel. It's one of the shopping malls located in Myeongdong. Things said to be priced significantly cheaper as compared to the other malls. I still found it relatively pricey though.
Managed to catch my favourite Kpop boyband Super Junior on tv to conclude Day1 in Seoul. ^^

So that concludes my first day in Seoul! There would be more updates on my trip to Korea as well as reviews coming up. No promises on how soon I'll be posting but I'll try my very best and hope you guys would stick around. Also, if you haven't already checked out my Seoul Beauty Haul post, please do at http://perfashionism.blogspot.sg/2012/08/seoul-beauty-haul.html .
If any of you would like me to write a post specifically on how I planned for this trip, please comment and let me know and I'll do my best to come up with a post consisting on what I did, the sites I visited and videos I've watched that really helped.
Lastly, I would like to urge any of my readers who are contemplating on traveling regardless of reason, be it to Korea or any other country, to just go ahead and do it! It would be the best experience one could ever have. I would be lying to say that I wasn't worried about all sorts of things. To be honest, I was really apprehensive about going to Korea without a tour guide and also due to the language barrier. However, it all turned out fine and yes problems do arise here and there, but you'll learn to solve it as well. Would I do it again despite these problems? Hell yeah! The experience is priceless and I would definitely do it again, back to Korea or maybe even to other exotic places. YOLO!
Any traveling experiences you'll like to share with me?
xoxo,
V
